Welcome to the Perugia Chocolate Festival, or, as those who know me call it, Emily's Dream Land.
Everything is chocolate. There are all kinds and shapes and sizes of chocolate, and you can never go hungry (though you certainly can go broke!)
But the magic cannot be described in words. Everyone ready? Let me present to you... the Festival:
Chocolate anyone? it's overflowing...
Cheese chocolate? Bread chocolate? Tomato chocolate? Egg chocolate? ALL chocolate?
Yumyumyumyum
It's cool cause they also have chocolate Kisses, called "Baci" (which means kisses)
Phil (Vivien, my suite-mate's, boyfriend) was obsessed with how cool the inside of his chocolate looked!
CHOCOLATE KEBABS!!!
But actually. Chocolate screws that look rusted... what??
yum :)
Anyone want chocolate milk?
Phil got a caricature of himself! (Unfortunately it wasn't carved into chocolate...)
What could make a chocolate festival even better? a CARNIVAL at the bottom of the hill!
Oh Merri-go-rounds!!
fun sliiiiiiide!!
So it was a day filled with chocolate and carnivals. Basically my dream.
On the good ship lollipop
It's a sweet trip into bed you'll hop
With this command-
All aboard for Chocolate Land!

Emily's Big Adventure! (With the Family!)
Buongiorno e mi dispiace (I'm sorry) for the lack of posts! I had midterms and planning for fall break on last week, but I'm well resting and currently in Salzburg (pack your bags aunt dana - we're going to austria!) for the first half of my fall break trip :) It is absolutely AMAZING here but i have other trips to tell you about first!
Three weeks ago my parents came to visit me in Florence for a week, and then we headed out to Roma that weekend to see my friend from my last post! So here's my wonderful week with the parents!!
My dearest parents at a great restaurant in Mercato Centrale called "ZaZas"
This is my campus! My parents came to see the tour of Villa La Pietra, and then I made them walk up the dreaded Ullivi hill :)
Just a glimpse of the lovely gardens... this is where they used to hold plays!
Outside Villa La Pietra
At a wonderful dinner on the Arno with the Pontevecchio in the background!
The clock tower by the Uffizi is simply beautiful. I love Florence.
Mmm Mmmm Good :) The Land of Bruschetta!
I have cute parents :) (that's the Duomo in the background, no big deal)
And introducing the slightly less exciting italian city of Roma!
We had an absolutely WONDERFUL time in both Florence and Rome! We had long three hour dinners in little back alleyways off of charming piazzas, ate real meat (I'd pretty much been restricted to pasta since we college kids can't eat at nice restaurants every night!), and did all the tourist-y things I'd felt too italian to do for the past two months! it was amazing and joyous and fun and I can't wait to tell you all about the chocolate festival in Perugia and my wonderful fall break so far!!!

For the Langfitt Family :)
My amazing friend Caitlin Amanda Langfitt is also studying abroad in Italy (Roma) but is much more artsy than I am, so she takes really amazing pictures of her surroundings, but none of herself. So since I got the pleasure of seeing her this past weekend in Rome, Dear Langfitts, here are some charming pictures of your lovely daughter enjoying her study abroad :)
we remembered to cover the shoulders but her shorts were too short! so she pulled out a scarf, and my mom pulled out a bandana, and we got her covered!

Capri Sun Anyone?
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been so M.I.A., but my parents were here last week treating me to lovely Arno-side dinners and taking me through the museums of Firenze (apparently something called the Renaissance happened here? kidding, mom!) so I didn't have a spare moment!
But the weekend before last I went to the Amalfi Coast (Sorrento-Capri-Positano-Pompeii) through a study abroad travel group called bus2alps. it was AMAZING. I've decided I'm going to get super rich and buy a house on Capri. With Leonardo DiCaprio. Oh yea, we'll be next door neighbors, no big deal. But there's really not much to SAY about the Amalfi Coast... it's better when shown...
Allison (roomie) and I on our *private boat* to Capri!
The Blue Grotto... sooo pretty
Random really good looking lighthouse. I'll stay there while the workers are building my new house on Capri haha
Allison, Caitlin, and I attempting to look as pretty as the background..
I'M ON TOP OF CAPRIIIIIII!!!!
Allison took one look at this view and said: How are we supposed to go back to Durham after this?
Swimming in the Mediterranean... I'm the one that looks like a vampire.
Cutest Doggie! More interested in my food than me though...
Hello Positano! Such gorgeous black sand beaches too...
Oh yea. Food have eyes here. It's a little sketch.
Welcome to Pompeii!
This guy died here, apparently. But that's really just his skeleton covered in plaster or something...
Can you hear me now? Good.
Such an amazing place with such amazing views! Next update: Roma :) I have to get a good nights sleep though, Chocolate Festival in Perugia tomorrow morning!
